Andrew “Andy” Sampson is an associate attorney at DeMartini Walker & Ghaedi LLP, where he focuses on estate planning, trust and estate administration, and probate. Admitted to the California Bar in 2017, Andy has spent his career serving individuals and families throughout Northern California and the North Bay. Andy joined the firm in 2026 to work alongside Jake Walker on estate planning, wealth preservation, and transfer planning.

Andy’s practice and experience run the full range of estate planning, from straightforward wills and revocable trusts to sophisticated irrevocable trusts such as life insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, and other complex tax-driven vehicles, including plans for estates valued in excess of $100 million. He guides trustees, beneficiaries, and other individuals through the administration of trusts and probate estates, including valuations, accountings, probate petitions, spousal property petitions, trust distribution agreements, and the transfer of assets to beneficiaries. Andy’s background in business, tax, and real estate law informs much of his work: he has helped form, restructure, and manage closely held companies and nonprofits, handled mergers and acquisitions, and advised clients on estate, gift, income, and property taxation. On the real estate side, he has drafted real property purchase and sale agreements, commercial and residential leases, co-ownership agreements, and easements, and he regularly documents secured and unsecured lending transactions for both lenders and borrowers. These experiences matter for clients whose wealth is often tied up in family businesses or real property.

Public service has been a significant part of Andy’s career. Andy worked for some time as an elder law outreach attorney with a North Bay legal aid organization, where he, among other things, built estate plans for low-income seniors and helped elderly clients make sense of documents they already had. That work gave him unusual depth in the concerns that come with planning later in life.

Andy earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, where he served as Senior Articles Editor of the UC Davis Law Review. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a member of the Marin County Bar Association.
